First (completed) Art Quilt

First let me say that the idea for this piece struck me in the spring. I sketched and wrote details in a journal (before I took the online class) and when I found the right background fabric in May I started it. I used Shiva paintstick to rub a circular design on the background. I then hand appliqued the circles. The project then came to a stand still. I didn't know where to go next. I had bought the dragonfly button for this but could not decide if I wanted to use it or not.
Well, I did. But then it was a while until I finished it because there was just something I wasn't happy with. The three embellished circles were not in the original sketch and that may be what threw me off. I'd appreciate any comments and/or criticism.

The shadowing on the appliqued circles really gives them dimension...good job.

Love the color combination and the way the shadowing makes the bigger circles seem to float! Nice beadwork too

Congratulations!! on this your first completed piece.
I love those colors.... nice idea using the circle theme.
Are the big ones yo-yo's?
Just a thought... how about one more say to the center left...
to my eye there seems to be a blank spot, and a bit heavy on the right? also I was thinking in terms of the even # aspect. You do just have seven, but the large ones are the ones clamoring for attention and they are 4...
As I said, just a thought, you could audition it and see what happens.
Very nice and thank you for the invitation to 'look see'.

Thanks for inviting me to take a look. Great job! Love how you carried the circle theme throughout the quilt and love the Shiva's on the background. I agree with Carole, though, it does seem a little heavy on the right side; not sure how to remedy it though. I would audition her suggestion. Love the colors!

Great job on your first art quilt. I agree with Carole and Christine in regards to the balance of the piece. The right side is much heavier. Perhaps you could use a rectangle of the lighter blue, cut out the circle shapes where your circles on the left are and then place the rectangle over those shapes. That would give the left side more weight. But just try out some other thoughts on giving the left side a bit more weight.
